NAFRC organises Grand Farewell for AVM Idris and other retiring directors.

After 35 years of meaningful service to humanity and the country at large, the Commandant of the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Center, NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Idris, and two other directors, Commodore Babalola and Commodore Iliya of Co-ordination and Logistics respectively, were given a grand farewell as they took a bow from the Nigerian Military.
The Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) who took over office in February became the 37th Commandant of the centre after his predecessor was appointed as the Chief of Air Staff.
The retiring generals, were given a heartwarming sendforth party by the NAFRC community, a gesture posed towards celebrating their immense contribution to the growth and development of the Centre, and their services to Nigeria.
While delivering his farewell speech, the retiring Commandant, AVM Idris, expressed his unreserved gratitude to directors, senior officers, officers, personnel, civilian staff, corps members and everyone that made his stay in NAFRC memorable, as well as urged everyone to continue in being honest and disciplined in their dealings, particularly as it relates to NAFRC growth.
He encouraged both serving officers and personnel to be more diligent and upright in their service to humanity and the country at large in stabilizing peace and harmony especially in this period of security challenges, while appreciating them for their cooperation and support during his stay as the Commandant of the center.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier General LKN Udeagbala, described the outgoing Commandant as a great pillar in the Armed Forces, who irrespective of his rank, holds being responsible, disciplined and loyal as virtues to attaining the highest point of ones' career.
Brigadier General LKN Udeagbala pointed out that there would have been a pulling out parade for the retiring generals but for development’s sake, the Commandant said the money should be channeled to the development of Apia and grass cutter farms, a vision nursed by the Commandant, so as to add notable value to the centre.
According to him, it was observed that apart from the establishment of water factory, almost all the workshops had facelifts in term of repairs and purchase of new equipment, including the sporting complex, NAFRCOWA, Churches/Mosque, Officer’s mess and service personnel mess amongst others.
“Commodore Iliya and Babalola have also done well, contributing immensely to the success story of NAFRC and Armed Forces, and pray they continue to be a blessing to the public” He concluded.
Also, the Director of Training, Brigadier General MCE Ejike applauded the Commandant for his achievements over the years and as the Commandant of the centre, saying that, AVM Idris always embraced new ideas and growth in trainees’ development.
Other senior colleagues and friends gave their unreserved opinions and gratitude to the outgoing Commandant for a job well done and also wished him well in all his endeavour going forward. The occasion was graced by various dignitaries ranging from his course mates, members of the 36th Regular Course, Commandants of various Tri-Service establishments, Sector commanders, Chairmen of Local Governments, friends and family, as well as representatives of NAFRCOWA.
The curtain was drawn with lots of laughter, dance, eating, pictures with exchange of gifts.
