Babajimi Partners with NAFRC as 56 Participants Graduate from Six-Week Training
Honourable Babajimi Benson, the Senate House Chairman of the Committee on Defence and Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, partnered with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) for a six-week intensive youth training on skill acquisition under the iCare Foundation.
This year's training program welcomed a total of 57 beneficiaries, with 36 from the Ikorodu federal constituency. Additionally, three beneficiaries hailed from Headquarters 81 Division, three from the Western Naval Command, four from the Logistics Command, and 11 from the NAFRC Community.
The vocational skills covered various fields including Information and Communication, Barbing, Hairdressing, Leatherworks, Technology, Tailoring, Works, Photography, Bakery, Catering, Plumbing, Pipe Fitting, and Agriculture.
Representing Babajimi, Mr. Aregbesola Rasheed highlighted the longstanding partnership between iCare Foundation and NAFRC during the passing-out ceremony. He emphasized their commitment to equipping individuals across Lagos State with necessary skills for success, noting this partnership's fourth iteration and the positive impact of previous collaborations.
Expressing confidence in the program’s efficacy, he stated the office's ongoing support for beneficiaries post-training, ensuring they leverage their skills effectively.
Furthermore, he mentioned their active monitoring of beneficiaries' progress, encouraging their engagement in various business and development opportunities.
The Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Herbert Amesinlola, represented by Deputy Commandant E.A Anaryu, praised NAFRC's comprehensive training programs. He urged participants to utilize their newfound skills for entrepreneurial endeavors, emphasizing the rarity of such free training opportunities in society.
Brigadier General I.O Olatunji, the Director of Training, congratulated all participants, highlighting NAFRC's commitment to providing skill acquisition programs for armed forces personnel and civilians, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities.
He added, "In the first training cycle of this year, the Centre, in conjunction with the iCare Foundation, presented a special six-week vocational training program free of charge. This initiative aimed to empower and equip 65 youths with the skills they need to succeed."
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Aregbesola Olanrewaju expressed gratitude for the invaluable skill acquisition program that has positively impacted their lives. He acknowledged NAFRC's commitment to empowering them with essential skills for a brighter future.
He appreciated the efforts of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson and iCare Foundation for spearheading this program, specifically designed to make a lasting impact on the youth of Lagos State and Ikorodu.
