The bakery workshop is the only department in the nutrition and dietetics wing. It was established in October 2008. The workshop was established to train the retirees, civilian and personnel wards in the skill of pastry and baking.
The primary role of the workshop is to provide basic practical skills in pastry and bread making to trainees of the centre. The bakery has been performing this task satisfactory since its inception. However, apart from the primary role of training, the workshop produces bread for sale to the catering department for feeding of the trainees and NAFRC community. The workshop has registered with NAFDAC and it was approved with NAFDAC registration No: LA/0042B/LSD. The Workshop help the trainees who intends to commence bakery business to process their NAFDAC Registration.
The workshop is equipped with modern baking equipment that can compete with bakeries outside.The workshop has seasoned instructors and facilitators. Apart from that the department liaise with external lecturer from the reputable tertiary institution to be our training programme and transfer of knowledge. A welcome idea by all in the department.The workshop has trained over 300 Nigerian Military Personnel and 90 Civilians who participated in youth empowerment programme organize by the centre since its inception.
Catering Department
The catering department is saddle with the responsibility of preparing and serving foods to the trainees and soldiers on duty. The department provides services in a professional manner taking in to cognizance the right quality and quantity and in a neat and hygienic process. The department has been discharging its duties with utmost commitment.
The primary role of the catering department is to ensure that trainees and soldiers on guard's duties are fed with the right quality, quantity and at appropriate timings. Aside this, the department also provides catering services during centre's functional activities such as passing out ceremony of trainees.
The kitchen is equipped with some modern catering equipment such as cold room and kitchen burners among others. The equipment is been used for both daily cooking routines and other functional activities.
The catering department has no partnership agreement with any organization currently.Only catering personnel participates in the on-the-job training in-situ.
