Building and Civil Works Wing is one of the thirteen wings in NAFRC as part of the centre’s program for the trainees to help them acquire different skills and knowledge before they retire to civil life after serving the country for more than 30 years and more. The Wing covers different workshops which are as follows:
- Buiding and Civil Workshop
- Plumbing and PIipe Fitting Workshop
- Painting and Spraying Workshop
Each workshop under the wing has its instructors and personnel on ground whom are able and capable of impacting knowledge to the trainees on various skills and technical know-how. The sole purpose of the wing is to ensure that at the end of the program, the trainees are able to implement all they have learnt from the wing in various chosen endeavors. The three workshops has different programs for the trainees at different levels.
The Building and Civil Works workshop is to teach the trainees on construction and the maintenance of structures and building, drawing and reading of building plans and architecture and also how to supervise building projects. The trainees are also taught the basic knowledge and principles of block laying, brick laying and estimating construction costs.
The Plumbing and Fitting Workshop teaches the trainees the art of pipe fitting and laying, joining of pipes and all other plumping works.
The Painting and Spraying Workshop is designed to teach the trainees on how to paint any structure of surface. The topic includes reading of lines, equipment and maintenance of equipment, preparation of surface for painting, mixing colours, types of fillers and thinners, etc.
Building and Civil Works also carry out some maintenance works around the centre which includes interlocking of walkways, repair works on old structures in the center, re-painting of buildings that needs painting and some other minor jobs.
