NAFRC COMMANDANT RECEIVES DHQ TRANSFORMATION MONITORING AND EVALUATION TEAM

The Commandant Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre AVM AH Amesinlola received the Defence Headquarter Transformation Monitoring and Evaluation team headed by the Team Leader Maj Gen WB Idris Director Innovation and Concept Development Defence Headquarters to the Centre for the evaluation and monitoring of policies within the establishment.
As stated by the Director Maj Gen Idris, the purpose of the working visit is to monitor and evaluate situations within various defence establishments in tandem with the vision of the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa.
The Director further emphasized the visit is to assess and ascertain the performance of the Centre in the last 3 months and other innovation policies, managerial and administrative practices as well as how the policies have impacted on the system. Also, he enunciated plans to improve the defence system and parameters in measuring success achieved.
Maj Gen Idris also encouraged the Comdt to identify grey areas with shortages and deficiencies which should be channeled to the office of the Chief of Defence Staff to adopt a new style that will positively affect its system and personnel of the various services.
He also appealed the Comdt and his team to be more innovative and robust in its effort in making the Centre move with the times in the area of branding and cooperate relationship with the various services that can also enhance optimally its products and patronage.
While appreciating the efforts of the Comdt in his successes recorded, the General also stressed the need for the Centre to exploit practicable options for the retiring participants.
In his response, AVM Amesinlola highlighted plans and challenges faced with the Centre in regards to electricity, personnel management, shortage of accommodation, welfare of personnel and civilians, unavailability of land space as well as the construction of the Epe agricultural wing site while making known the success achieved as evidenced by the recruitment of 79 retired personnel into security organisations and entrepreneurial establishments of the disengaged participants.
The Comdt identified the need for the services to conduct biannual comprehensive medical check up and recommended check up from the rank of Staff sergeant of the services to cut the losses of retiring personnel coming for their 6 month programme in NAFRC. He made know that physical fitness does not translate to comprehensive wellness. Also, he articulated the Centre is devising means of feedback from retired personnel and also migration to digital lectures for those who have been medically disqualified upon screening such that they can join in as the class progresses without being left out.
Moreover, he stated he has liaised and urged the Appropriation Committee of the National Assembly to enhance the starter pack for retired personnel as the previous empowerment package is not sustainable owing to the economic woes.
Lastly, the Comdt also solicited for the support of the Defence Headquarter to fast track capital intensive projects.
To mark off the visit, the team leader went round various workshops and wings to evaluate and ascertain the level of managerial resourcefulness and productivity.
