PROMOTING CONDUCIVE LIVING ENVIRONMENT FOR ENHANCED TRAINING: NAFRC REWARDS EXCELLENCE IN SECOND QUARTER INTER-BLOCK COMPETITION

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, rewarded outstanding residential blocks in the Centre’s Second Quarter Inter-Block Competition.
The awards were presented by the Commandant, NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, at the Centre’s Parade Ground, as part of efforts to promote environmental sanitation, proper maintenance of accommodation facilities, discipline and collective responsibility among personnel for enhanced training in the Centre.
The initiative has continued to encourage healthy competition among residential blocks, with participants striving to meet established standards in cleanliness, environmental management and general upkeep of their accommodation as well as the Centre at large.
Giving the highlight of the competition, the Director of Administration, Air Commodore SU Bello, explained that the inspection committee conducted the assessment on 31 July 2026, following a pre-inspection briefing held on 29 July 2026.
He noted that the assessment covered the overall cleanliness, maintenance and structural condition of residential accommodation, as well as environmental management and innovative value-added projects. According to him, the results were based on an objective assessment and collation of observations by members of the inspection committee.
Air Commodore Bello commended the participating blocks for their efforts, noting that the competition had demonstrated that “excellence is achievable through discipline, teamwork and consistency.” Over 40 blocks participated in the exercise. At the end of the competition, Corporal and Below Quarters(CBQ) Block S emerged overall winner and received a cash prize of ₦1 million naira. CBQ Block T came second and was awarded ₦600,000, while Brigadier General AO James Block came third and received ₦400,000.
In his remarks, AVM Ilo congratulated the winning blocks for their outstanding performance and urged them to sustain the standards that earned them recognition. He also encouraged other blocks to intensify their efforts and use the competition as an opportunity to improve before the next assessment.
The Commandant described the cash prizes as a well-deserved recognition of the winners’ commitment and performance, while urging them to remain exemplary models for other blocks to emulate.
The presentation generated excitement among personnel as representatives of the winning blocks received their awards.
The ceremony reiterates the Commandant's Command Philosophy to emplace formidable training environment, enhanced personnel welfare and sustained infrastructure development in line with global best practices. It also underscores his vision to reward hard for diligence to outstanding personnel.
