NAFRC Gets New Commandant Album

The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, witnessed a formal and symbolic transition of its leadership on Monday 15 Dec 2025 as Air Vice Marshal BR Mamman handed over the leadership of the Centre to Air Vice Marshal NI Ilo, the 42nd Commandant of the NAFRC.

The ceremony commenced with the outgoing Commandant formally decorating AVM NI Ilo with the NAFRC broach, marking his assumption of office as Commandant of NAFRC. This was followed by the signing of the handing and taking over note and the symbolic switching of seats by the incoming and the outgoing Commandant. This was followed by the movement to the Flag Stand, where the Commandant’s Flag was lowered and hoisted, signifying the official transfer of authority and the change of baton at the Centre and a symbolic act marking the end of an era and the beginning of another.

In his inaugural remarks, AVM NI Ilo, expressed profound gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and thanked the Chief of Air Staff, and the Chief of Defence Staff, for finding him worthy of the appointment as the Commandant.

“I want to thank God for a day like this; it is by His grace,” he said. “I assure you all that I will not disappoint. I pledge my loyalty to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs, and I will carry out my responsibilities with diligence and commitment.”

AVM Ilo also paid tribute to the outgoing Commandant, describing him as both a course mate and a brother, noting that he had previously taken over from him as Director of Operations and was now once again succeeding him as the Commandant. “I will fill the shoes well,” he assured.

The incoming Commandant urged officers and staff to approach the new chapter with an open mind. “Whatever you have heard about me, whether good or bad, please throw it aside and get to know me,” he said, while appealing for the same level of cooperation, if not more, that was accorded to his predecessor. He emphasized that his top priority would be the welfare and successful reintegration of retiring participants of the Centre, while also assuring staff of his commitment to their well-being and professional growth.

AVM Ilo expressed appreciation to the NAFRC community and reiterated his commitment to uphold the Centre’s mandate.
